everything you need to know about stickers

VINYL vs paper

What sticker material is right for you? I can help you decide but here is a quick rundown.

Vinyl is your go-to for anything long-lasting. It’s glossy which means your colours are rich and saturated.
Paper is great for labels, bookplates, packaging stickers etc. My paper stock is matte and easy to peel.

I also stock a range of metallic, holographic and glitter effect vinyl if you want something extra posh.

TO LAMINATE OR NOT to laminate

Vinyl sticker laminate is a magic thing. It’s applied by hand, over your printed stickers to ensure they are :

- scratch resistant.
- waterproof (not to brag, but I wash my drink bottle in an industrial dishwasher and my stickers are FINE.)
- UV protected, allowing for longer-lasting stickers in our harsh Australian sun.
- Extra glossy, thick and schmick looking.

You can choose not to laminate if your stickers are going inside or are meant for short term use.

KISS CUT, DIE CUT or sticker sheets?

What's the difference between a die-cut sticker and a kiss-cut sticker? To make things simple, a die-cut sticker has a backing that is cut to the exact shape of the design. A kiss-cut sticker typically has a square backing around the design that's bigger than the sticker.

Die-cut stickers are cut using a process that removes the excess material and leaves the design in its specific shape. This allows for a wide range of possibilities when it comes to the size and shape of the sticker, as the cutting machine can be programmed to cut the sticker into any shape.

Kiss-cut stickers are cut using a sharp blade to cut through the adhesive layer, leaving the backing intact. The result is a sticker that is easy to remove from the backing, making it ideal for quick peeling and sticking. If you are using paper sticker stock, I recommend kiss cut as die-cut paper can be IMPOSSIBLE to peel.

Sticker sheets are multiple kiss-cut stickers on one sheet - same design or multiple. This is PERFECT for labels, packaging stickers or name tags.
